an ode to detox
My amazing doctor told me once that you can typically expect to spend one year of detox for every decade of your life. Unless you’ve been supporting detox all along, which I certainly had not been. I grew up drinking contaminated well water, spraying Round Up (fuckin’ glyphosate) all over everything with no mask or protection of any kind, plus all the toxin exposures we all have all the time just being in our world. Then I got really sick from mold living in Seattle, so by the time I started actively supporting detox, it had become a major project. Outside of random chelation IV’s I did years ago for heavy metals, I started all of this about four years ago and though I’m still at it, I can feel it winding down, which puts my doctor’s rule of thumb exactly on the dot for my four-ish decades of living.
I am a medical intuitive, NOT a medical practitioner, so this is not medical advice. But here’s what I’ve been doing for the past four years to detox, and will continue to do a lighter version of this for the rest of my life.
Liver herbs
Glutathione or glutathione precursors
So many binders. I want to know and do NOT want to know how many bottles of charcoal and numerous other binders I’ve used these past years. Yikes.
Having days or periods of time eating low fat and low protein so my liver can focus.
Sweating, in a sauna or a hot bath or sitting in a hot shower pretending I’m under a waterfall. 🙂
So much energy healing.
And, praying to the gods for it to please be done now because this has been exhausting at times. I could go into the metaphor of my body as Mother Earth but maybe that connection is sort of obvious by now.
(There are people who say actively supporting detox isn’t necessary because our bodies have built-in mechanisms for this and we need to trust our body to handle it. ((These are not people I talk about health with and I won’t get into their health status or the color of their skin or how extensive their resources might be.)) To this point, I’m amazed that my health was as sturdy as it was, even with all those childhood exposures. Until it wasn’t.)
And the rest - becoming a health geek and a medical intuitive and energy healer AND someone more and more well in their body who can drink coffee! and even wine sometimes! - is history.
