what the spirits are saying about our economic system
A reading. On economics of all things.
The message - the injustice of who has how much and for what reasons runs so deep, all the way to the core.
My next question, naturally, is what does this mean? Especially for those us who are not economic analysts, who are just doing our thing, living our lives, managing what we have. Three things.
1. If the economic scales are weighted in your favor, when is the last time you’ve asked yourself, how much is actually enough? Rather than more generally being better, can you reorganize yourself around an actual amount that marks the threshold of enough? This is a deprogramming, this is extricating your nervous system from a system that has programmed you to operate in its best interests (more is always better), not your own and certainly not your fellow humans.
2. Money has been programmed to intentionally flow a certain way. Like a big river with dams. What do you see when you zoom out to look at where it’s flowing the least? What if we re-directed the flow? On an individual level maybe this feels like walking a pail of water over to a trickling stream but if that stream had enough pails of water being tossed in, who knows how that trickling stream might become something that changes everything?
3. If your life is working for you economically, are you willing to wonder why? Can we begin to develop our minds about this? When our lives are working, seemingly, we are naturally less inclined to disrupt them. Makes sense. Can we open to a broader understanding of wellbeing? Can we expand our sense of personal wellbeing to include everyone around us? (Enter disrupting our individualism, our nuclear family model, our way of doing community and friendship.) Can we bear intentionally becoming uncomfortable? When humans are uncomfortable they change things in fuckin’ genius ways.
This is the New Way.
